There’s a new manager in the Liberty Stadium in the shape of former Bayern, Real Madrid and PSG assistant manager Paul Clement. He also had an 8 month stint in charge of Derby County in the Championship which is his only experience of being the number 1. It’s Swansea’s 3rd manager of the season and many of them will be wishing they never sacked Garry Monk. Swansea are a sinking ship at the moment, as evidenced by their 2-0 FA Cup loss to fellow strugglers Hull City at the weekend. They did win their last Premier League game against another of their fellow strugglers Crystal Palace with a late goal from Angel Rangel but it remains to be seen whether Clement can actually galvanise this squad before they get cut completely adrift from safety. Arsenal seem to be going through another well documented blip which of course people cannot wait to talk about and make jokes about them finishing 4th again. The fact remains that Arsenal are a top team with top players and are more than capable of dismantling Swansea without breaking a sweat. The only worry from an Arsenal perspective was the way that they celebrated the draw with Bournemouth last week. They should have been furious with themselves in the way that Alexis Sanchez was but it was almost a party atmosphere in the ground afterwards. Arsenal will win this game and move on.
Alexis Sanchez to Score First
There’s been a few rumours around Alexis in recent weeks, wondering if he will be leaving Arsenal to try and win trophies and it’s a story that Arsenal fans have heard enough times before with Nasri, Fabregas and Robin Van Persie, who all went on to win the Premier League title after leaving the Gunners. Sanchez is likely to have a decision to make at the end of the season but for now he is playing a key part in Arsenal’s title ambitions and has been phenomenal this season. The little Chilean has scored 15 goals in all competitions this season and provided 13 assists which is remarkable. I think he will score here too and drag Arsenal back into title contention.
Over 2.5 Goals
One of Swansea’s biggest issues is the defence. Since selling Ashley Williams in the summer to Everton, they have conceded the most goals in the Premier League this season with 45 being put past Lukasz Fabianski. Arsenal have scored the 2nd highest amount of goals in the Premier League season with only Liverpool scoring more…you see where I’m going with this. Arsenal should be putting at least 2 past Swansea and to be honest I think it will be 3 or more.
Head to Head
Swansea have actually won 3 of the last 5 meetings between these 2 sides (L2)
